Google’s Keyword Tool Now Shows Search Volume

Google’s Adwords system has always had it keyword suggestion tool that would help to suggest related keywords but they’ve gone one better. Now they show search volumes for keywords. And the data does a decent job of going down to local level searches. YAY!!!!!

The tool has 3 versions. The external keyword tool can be used if you don’t have an Adwords account or don’t want to log into your account to do some keyword research. It also makes related keyword suggestions while showing volumes for those terms too. Love it

Getting Your KML files to Open in Google Earth

A few weeks ago I posted a few neat things you can do with geo-data for your website and delved into adding KML geo files to your website. Well, I noticed one small problem. When adding a link to a KML file, on a web-page, when you click that link, the KML file just opens in the browser as any old un-styled XML file.

I was wanting these to automatically open up in Google Earth so I can watch the globe spin round and fly into the spot specified on the map. No such luck.

But I found the solution(s). One complicated, one easy.

My Cool Ass CB750 Cafe Racer

So, this post is a lil bit off topic here (way off) but felt like posting it anyways.

I picked up my first motorcycle recently and its really f***ing cool. It’s a 1980 Honda CB750 and its getting chopped and customized into a cafe racer.

I found the bike listed locally on craigslist.org and after doing some research online I came across this cb750 cafe racer website. After seeing those bikes and digging more into the cafe style of bikes I was sold on getting this Honda. Sent some emails to Carpy (Steve Carpenter) at cb750cafe.com and been buying some parts from him. Great guy who is really passionate about building cool cafe racers.

Funny him being a Brit and all while the original cafe style evolved in Britain primarily on British bikes like Nortan’s but he tends to stick with the older SOHC Honda’s. Fitting I guess because it was the cb750’s that brought the English bike industry to its knee’s in the late 60’s early 70’s. Norton went bankrupt. Ouch.

Use Your Own Website for Local Job Listings

Finding the right employees that fit well with your business can be tough. We all know that. And advertising to fill staff openings can be hit and miss. There are local print classifieds, and an array of online job lisitng services with varying price ranges and varying results.

Dilution is NOT the Solution to Internet Pollution

Many job listing web sites are quite regional in the market share so one site, like craigslist.org, has great penetration in the west while something else may be more trafficked in the east, perhaps Kijiji.com. And then there are the big boys like Workopolis and Monster which are often better for professional jobs.
