Freshly Minted Client Website
I just finished up a great new website for Tod Mountain Ranch in British Columbia. They are a guest ranch offering horse riding vacations. The lodge and cabins are still under construction and are set to open this coming spring in 2009.
They are just down the hill from Sun Peaks Resort, Canada’s 3rd largest ski resort and there is lots to do around the area and miles and miles of mountain trails to ride.
The website is powered by Wordpress as a content management system. This allows them to edit their content and blog a bit about some of the great trail rides and stories from guests. Part of the blog also acts as their newsletter which gets mailed out to their mailing list and gets published on the site as well.
Before starting the design of the site they already had a logo. I used the logo as inspiration for the design and color schemes. Their logo is just the green text and the silhouette of the cowboy on the horse. The rest of what you see in the header, the parchment paper and faint radial ray effect were my additions to give the header a great graphic effect. The wooden background as well as the sun bleached wood of the navigation bar do a fine job of creating the rustic feel of a horse ranch.
I had made a little mistake when I first added the horseshoe on the right side of the navigation bar. I had it so it was pointing down as though it was hanging from a nail. Well it turns out that is the wrong way to hang a horseshoe. It’s considered bad luck as the luck spills out of it when it’s upside down. So I had to spin it around. My bad.
I’m very happy with how the site turned out and so is the client. If you’re looking for a cool dude ranch kind of vacation be sure to check out Tod Mountain Ranch.
I wonder if I can maybe get them to comp me a free day of horseback riding in the mountain trails next summer? Or at least a nice discount
